4PETESAKE ANNOUNCES 2010 RECIPIENTS AND DATE FOR DAY IN THE PARK

Spring Green, WI – The 4PeteSake committee is pleased to announce this year’s recipients.

Shanna Atkinson

Shanna was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis last October and began taking medication for her condition. In February, she developed a severe allergic reaction to the medication. The allergy has caused a life-threatening reaction that includes serious rash, swelling and heart palpitations. Her doctors are working to find a treatment for her condition.

Shanna has worked at Cardinal Glass for the past 8 years. Due to her condition, she has had to take some medical leave time. She lives in Lone Rock with her children, 10-year-old Kaiden and 5-year-old Jadessa, as well as her fiancé, Travis Hisel and Travis’ son, Devon.

4PeteSake funds will be used to assist Shanna to cover expenses incurred during her medical leave and to help with medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.

Kelly Feiner

Kelly has recently been diagnosed with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, a form of lymphoma that attacks the skin (not to be confused with skin cancer). It is a rare disease, striking only 1 in 300,000 people. Kelly has begun chemotherapy and his doctors are in the process of determining what other treatment he’ll require.

Kelly is a member of the Spring Green Fire Department and on the EMS squad as a driver. He is also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Kelly lives in Spring Green with his wife, Char, and 9-year-old daughter Riley.

4PeteSake funds will be used to assist Kelly and his family with household expenses incurred during his treatment.

Tickets for this year’s 4PeteSake raffle will be available beginning June 1 at area businesses or from 4PeteSake committee members.

Also, donation buckets will be placed at local businesses beginning in June.
About 4PeteSake

4PeteSake is run by a 9-member, volunteer group. The independent committee is part of the public outreach program of Christ Lutheran Church, which gives 4PeteSake access to a 501(c)3 organization, allowing contributions to be tax-deductible.

The committee chooses at least one recipient each year through an application process. Recipients must live within the boundaries of the River Valley School District and find themselves in circumstances, through no fault of their own, for which assistance is needed. To date, all recipients have had medically related needs.

The primary goal is to relieve financial stress so recipients can focus on healing. 4PeteSake funds fill in where insurance leaves off – such as providing income replacement to keep the lights and heat on and take care of other basic household expenses. The committee may also become an advocate for recipients, helping them through the maze of services and fees, and making the dollars provided stretch even further.

Now in its sixth year, 4PeteSake has raised over $300,000 and changed the lives of 15 past beneficiaries. The group’s mission is to raise money to assist recipients in a way that can substantially change their circumstances and impact their quality of life.
